Winter 25/26
Ghatronic
Ghatronic has received a request for seminars for around 200 car mechanics in the Tamale region following the acquisition of the two main trainers. Tamale is the capital of the structurally poorer region in northern Ghana.
In Ghana, car mechanics are organised in a kind of guild called the Ghana National Association of Garages (GNAG), which is represented in the regions. Car mechanics are trained as ‘roadside mechanics’ through years of practical experience in the workshop. Studies by the University of Tamale confirm the need for further training in order to prevent skilled workers from leaving the country.
The training with Ghatronic is planned in three phases.

Phase 1: 30-50 participants will receive theoretical instruction from Ghatronic.

Phase 2: The five best participants will receive practical training with the diagnostic equipment at the University of Kumasi Training Centre (TTC). They will thus be trained as trainers. This is what the laptops are needed for.

Phase 3: The training courses for the remaining 150 roadside mechanics will then be trained out independently by GNAG Tamale.
A used laptop with Windows 11 currently costs around €450 in Ghana. In order to start the project, we need financial support for an initial 4 laptops, i.e. around €2,000.
November 2023
Ghatronic
Ghatronic has established contacts with Ghanaian mechanics associations. Their aim is to train mechanics as instructors throughout the country. By November 23, 200 multipliers had received theoretical and practical training at the premises of one association.

We need financial support to organise training courses in other cities and to be able to finance additional rooms (e.g. containers), lifting platforms and training equipment.

Two solar-powered pumps were installed in spring 2013. However, the water capacity test showed that only two of the four existing boreholes were suitable for the installation of solar-powered well pumps.

In order to be able to supply the other two settlements with water, we had hydrogeological investigations carried out.
We need financial support for the two necessary boreholes with capacity tests and the installation of solar-powered pumps
2022
We, too, are still feeling the effects of Corona, which is why we are concentrating on only two project grants at the moment.

The Digi-Mechanics School was able to run courses in Accra in March 2022 for multipliers in electrics, engine management systems, vehicle dynamics and is in the process of setting up an offshoot in Kumasi, the second largest city in Ghana. The first courses have been taking place there since mid-November.

Through the constant contact of a member of our association who taught at the “Siabuwa Secondary School” in 1986, we learned that some former pupils have founded an association.
The association KDT is the initiative for the development of infrastructure and the improvement of education for the Tonga minority living there.
Currently, four wells have been drilled and tanks built for three schools and a clinic. The solar-powered pumps are still missing. This Community Water Project Siabuwa is also funded by the State of Baden-Württemberg through the Foundation for Development Cooperation in Baden-Württemberg (SEZ).
